The Founder

As a Texas native, Chris grew up in Austin with a fiercely independent streak. He was the kid in high school who always got busted throwing parties for his friends and finding ways to be the funniest guy in the room (often trying to impress girls, a venture which rarely worked).  From day one, Chris was destined to build a company that created spaces where people could connect and be inherently social.

Fast forward through college, grad school, a successful career as a lawyer, and living the American dream with his college girlfriend (wife) and kids. Chris created White Rhino Coffee in 2007 as a space where the community could get a hand-crafted cup of coffee and connect with their neighbors. Since then, WR has become a staple in every community, and, like the kid in high school, Chris gets to play host to friends and make people laugh. As Chris says, we use coffee to connect with people. We aren’t in the coffee business; we’re in the people business.

Our doors opened in Cedar Hill on November 17, 2007. For the next several years White Rhino existed as a small community coffee house that became the birthplace of relationships, friendships, and even marriages. In late 2017 we added a second location in Red Oak, followed by White Rhino Coffee + Kitchen in Waxahachie in 2018, and Bishop Arts and Arlington  in 2020. Now, even as we get ready to open up stores six and seven in Uptown Dallas and Ft. Worth in early 2021, we are still committed to our mission.
